Bumble Bee Shrimp

Bumble Bee Shrimp

Latin Name Gnathophyllum americanum
Common Name Bumble Bee Shrimp
Also known as Striped Harlequin Shrimp
Fast Facts As their name implies, The Bumblebee Shrimp does indeed resemble a bumblebee, with its yellow-white body with black stripes. This tiny delicate shrimp is widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific, but is not regularly available to the trade. These are tiny shrimps; average size is around 1/4"-1/2". They do best in groups of two or more, but also fare well singly. They feed on echinoderms in nature but they will accept meaty foods such as brine or mysis shrimp in the aquarium. Like all shrimps, they require careful acclimation. Sensitive to changes in specific gravity and pH, always acclimate slowly.
