Fast Facts One of the hardier members of the genus, Tridacna squamossa fares better in captivity than Tridacna maxima or crocea. Squamossa can be distinguished by the large ridges (called scutes), on the shell. Occasionally available in larger sizes than T. maxima, and they're more affordable and durable.
