Described in 2003, Cirrhilabrus bathyphilus is one of the newest and most rare members of the genus. As of this writing only a handful of specimens have been available to the trade. A smaller species reaching a maximum size of only about 3", its coloration is unlike any other fairy wrasse. Being a plankton feeder, it has no interest in corals or clams and makes an excellent choice for the reef aquarium.
