AVAILABILITY NOTE
This fish is not particularly rare, however, it is not often available, and not a popular species. Contact us is you're serious about getting one. The window of opportunity to get one when available is small, so jump on them fast.
The porkfish is a member of the grunt family, and is one of a handful that is sought after by the aquarium hobbyist. (The sweetlips also are members of this family.) The adults of this species have yellow stripes on the body and two black bands, one on the head and one behind the gill cover. The juveniles, in contrast, are yellow on the head and front of the boy, white on the rest of the body, with two black lines and a black spot just before the tail. Provide a tank plenty of open swimming space and a cave or ledge this fish can refuge under. This species is indifferent toward its tankmates. More than one individual can be kept in the same tank, although in some cases they will quarrel. Adults are often in shoals in the wild. Juveniles will clean other fishes.
