This is one of the most readily available members of the genus. This and similar species are sold in the trade as "Sharpnose Puffer" and one "spotted" type species is generally not differentiated from another. When ordering a "Whitespotted Puffer", this, or other very similar looking species may be shipped. It is golden brown on the back and sides (it is lighter on the ventrum) with numerous bright blue spots and lines. All sharpnose puffers may nip fins. Keep only one per tank. Great fish for a fish only aquarium.
