Burr Puffer

Burr Puffer

Latin Name Chilomycterus antillarum
Common Name Burr Puffer
Also known as Spiny Box Puffer, Bridled Burrfish, Spiny Boxfish, Atlantic Porcupine Puffer
Fast Facts The Burr Puffer differs from its cousin the Porcupine Puffer Diodon Holocanthus in that the spines on the body are always erect (in the Diodon spp., they lay against the body until they inflate). It is also less frequently available and more difficult to keep than the Porcupine Puffer, often being slow to accept captive fare. More than one can be kept in the same tank and they rarely bother tankmates other than the occasion nip. Provide it with plenty of swimming space.
