Spanish Hogfish

Spanish Hogfish

Latin Name Bodianus rufus
Common Name Spanish Hogfish
Also known as Hold on to your hat, this fish is known only as the Spanish Hogfish!
Fast Facts This attractive and exceptionally hardy hogfish is an excellent choice for the "bold fish tank". Provide it with a large tank and plenty of open swimming space. It is a voracious feeder whose preferred cuisine includes a wide range of invertebrates. Do not keep with very small or docile fishes, as the Spanish Hogfish is likely to bully them. You should keep it with moderately aggressive tankmates or, if you want to keep it with more docile species, make sure they are larger. Juveniles set-up cleaning stations and will readily engage in this behavior in captivity.
