Clown Grouper

Latin Name Pogonoperca punctata
Common Name Clown Grouper
Also known as Clown soapfish, Leaflip Grouper, clown grouper, leaflip sopafish
Fast Facts The Clown Grouper is a hardy aquarium fish that makes an interesting display animal. Juveniles have several large white circles on their belly that are filled with smaller white spots, and yellowish-tan saddles on the back with white spots. As it grows it develops black saddles on its back and small white spots all over its body and head. Although young specimens can be quite secretive, with time they will become bolder and spend more time in the open. Pogonoperca punctata is a ravenous predator that will eat any fish or crustacean that it can swallow whole, so be sure to not keep it with anything too small. Most specimens are in the 3"-6" range. Very east to care for.
