A coveted rarity among groupers, The Bumblebee Grouper is an extraordinarily hardy aquarium fish that makes an interesting display animal. Juveniles (shown) are black with yellow patches. As it grows the yellow patches become more ornate, random patches. Both color phases are equally attractive. This fish will quickly become a pet and is very easy to maintain. Like all groupers, it will swallow any fish smaller or equal in size to itself. Extremely rare in the aquarium trade, available specimens tend to be in the 3"-8" range.
