| Fast Facts |
This is one of the most attractive shrimp-goby species, and is also relatively common in the marine fish trade. The body is covered with orange spots, the pelvic fins are black and the belly is also dark. There are a number of different members of the genus Amblyeleotris that are sold as "banded watchman gobies." The husbandry of all these species is very similar. These fishes are well suited for aquarium life. They are not aggressive, except possibly towards conspecifics or towards other bottom-dwelling fishes, except for those that try to enter their preferred hiding place. Provide them with suitable hiding places and beware that they may jump out of an open aquarium when startled. Shares a burrow with one or more snapping shrimp (Alpheus spp.). |
