The RedTail Filefish has an orange body and tail and a brownish head. This attractive filefish is best avoided by the beginning aquarist. Although attractive and common, they can be a challenge to feed initially and can be quite shy when first added to the aquarium. They do not fare well when kept with belligerent species or more aggressive food competitors. Keep only with very peaceful tankmates. This species is usually indifferent toward its tankmates, with the exception of members of the same species or related forms. Provide it with suitable shelter sites.
