The Sunburst or "Fathead" Anthias is a unique Anthias that has a steep head profile. Some of the first specimens collected were mistaken for a hawkfish, hence the common name. It will do best in a tank with abundant hiding places, especially overhangs and caves. If keeping more than one, keep no less than three specimens unless the tank is very large. Groups can be usually be kept in large tanks. This fish will usually accept frozen mysis shrimp, but count on them being slow to begin feeding. Keep only with exceptionally peaceful tankmates; this Anthias cannot tolerate any harassment. Provide clean, well-oxygenated water, along with plenty of water movement and open swimming space.
