The flame angelfish is one of the most beautiful in the genus, as well as one of the hardiest. It's also one of the top 5 most popular quarium fish among thousands vailable! It is orange overall, with dark bands on the body and blue markings on the rear edges of the dorsal and anal fins. This fish can become aggressive toward members of its own genus, as well as fishes with similar shape or behavior introduced after it has become an established. Make sure it is placed in a tank with plenty of hiding places. Commonly kept in reef tanks, it may nip at corals, clams, etc., although it is generally not bad. Like all pygmy angels, it does best in reef tanks or tanks containing live rock and/or plenty of algae. |
