AVAILABILITY NOTE
Pachyseris is not regularly available, never plentiful, and they're grabbed up quickly by SPS. enthusiasts.
Pachyseris is a highly sought after and infrequently available SPS Coral. Pachyseris does not have visible polyps and is not as difficult to maintain as other SPS Corals, and they're not as prone to color change as Acropora sp. Also known as Corduroy and Elephant Skin Coral.
To maintain the health of Pachyseris it is necessary to maintain excellent water quality in an established reef aquarium, high pH, calcium and alkalinity levels, and maintain extremely low phosphate and nitrate levels. Pachyseris demands intense lighting, preferably supplied by metal halide lights, and strong, preferably intermittent water flow. Actinic lighting or metal halide lighting heavy in the blue spectrum will enhance their color.
