Tongue Coral

Tongue Coral

Latin Name Herpolitha limax, Polyphyllia talpina
Common Name Tongue Coral
Also known as Slipper Coral
Fast Facts One of the easier to maintain hard corals, Tongue Coral can thrive in a wide range of conditions. Acclimates best in low water flow and indirect lighting, they can adapt to a wide variety of conditions. Found on sand and rubble bottoms, they should be placed on the bottom of your aquarium on sand or gravel, rather than on rocks, as rubbing against rocks easily damages the tissue. Tongue Coral is closely related to Fungia, which is also occasionally available in rare Purple and Orange colors. Tongue Coral is also closely related to Plate Coral.
