Red Gonipora is rarely available, never available more than a few pieces at a time, and the waiting list is a mile long! If ordering this coral (from anyone), don't be surprised if you don't get it. This is not an item to base an order around.

Red Gonipora is the most sought after and least frequently available varieties. Check out Green Goniopora for one that will likely be in stock. Gonipora can expand and contract tremendously. Size will vary from smaller when you receive them, to larger after they have adjusted to your aquarium for a period of weeks. Like most Large Polyp Stony Corals, their tissue is very thin. Polyps of Gonipora are not individuals; rather, it is "one piece" covering the skeleton. It is important to consider this when handling and placing these corals in the aquarium, as the tissue is very thin and easily damaged. When this corals expands, it can be knocked off of rockwork, which will lead to damage and demise. It requires outstanding water conditions and may benefit from addition of trace elements. It requires medium to bright, indirect light and generally expands best in low to medium water flow. In nature it is typically found in turbid, shallow waters.
