Also known as Moon and Pineapple Coral, Favia and Favities Brain Corals, there are a variety of similar forms sold as "Moon Coral". These are a hardy group of corals that can do great in any well-maintained reef aquarium. They acclimate best in mild water flow and low to medium lighting, but can adapt to a wide variety of conditions. Color can and form can and will vary greatly; some pieces are greenish, some are reddish brown, some have both colors, some have light colored corallites with dark surrounding tissue, some are the opposite. These corals have thin tissue and do not expand like large polyp corals. A good coral for beginners, and admired by experts, 'Moon Coral" is frequently available. |
